The manufacture of modern equipment makes a higher request in welding technology, and the traditional manual welding technology can't meet the requirement, therefore, the welding technology is developing into automation and intelligence. Since the automatic welding technology can improve the welding quality and welding efficiency, it will be widespread used in the future. This thesis introduced a teaching and playback tracking system which consists of Image Acquisition System, Imagery Processing System, Filter System and Implementing Agency.Based on the research on structured light detect, a laser vision sensor with an appropriate filter system was designed, to receive the structured light images of weld seam. A method how to set up the sensor and workpiece has also been researched and provided in order to reduce the errors of hardware in this thesis.A series of imagery processing algorithms how to withdraw correctly the central of weld seam have been researched and analyzed, and the software program of imagery processing weld width was designed and compiled in this thesis. The experimental results showed that software program can recognize the center of the butt welding seam with weld width from 0.1millimeter to 0.6millimeter. The welding robot guarding software, was also designed and compiled to communicate and coordinate the master control software.Teaching and playback tracking experiment for slanting forming block and tune forming block are carried out with the heip of this system. The experiment indicated that the system's tacking capacity is outstanding. The measurement error is less than 0.8 millimeter. Since the system is still on the exploratory stage, there is much improvement for the reliability and accuracy of the tracking.
