With the popularity of the Internet and information technology, the data for individuals and businesses are more and more important. Whether the data can immediately restore even decides the survival of an enterprise. Network backup system can restore the lost data backed up fast and accurately to reduce the business loss to zero caused by the data missing.The storage server is at the core position in the network backup system which is comprised of backup server, storage server and file demon. The storage server is the destination of the data where it stores. By optimizing the storage servers, the whole system can be optimized.The duplicate data takes more and more space in the network backup system, and the management cost for the data is increasingly high. In order to reduce the storage space which the backed up data stored on the storage server and save the network bandwidth for data transmission, the data de-duplication is realized in the network backup system. Aiming at the problem that data de-duplication technology affects system performance, the solutions of comparing the files'similarity is put forward. In de-duplication based network backup system, for enhancing the stability of the network bandwidth for the users transmitting data, the network band width dynamic allocation algorithm based on token barrel mechanism realizes stable and divisional band width service. In order to reduce the number of disk access and enhance the data recovery speed, the storage server introduces pre-read technologies to improve the files'restoring performance effectively.The test result demonstrates that the data de-duplication can effectively reduce the space for backed up data and saved network bandwidth between the file demon and the storage server. The network band width dynamic allocation algorithm based on token barrel mechanism made users'network bandwidth divisional and more stable. Besides, the pre-read technology in the system improved the restore performance.
