With the rapid development of wireless and mobile communication technology, the RF blocks are required smaller and smaller, at the same time, the performance is required higher and higher. As an important part of the blocks, the band pass filters with high-quality, flat group-delay, low insertion loss and good frequency selectivity have received more and more attention all over the world. It is also well known that the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) components take a lot of merits such as high quality factor, low insertion loss, high power capability, low-cost and easy integration etc, especially in the cavity filters field.In this paper, the design basis of substrate integrated waveguide components is introduced firstly. Such as the electromagnetic propagation characteristics and the type and structure of the transformation between the SIW structure and the microstrip; Secondly, the cross-coupling theory of filters is studied, especially for the analysis of the phase model; Then, the substrate integrated waveguide resonator is mainly studied, including both the incentive way of resonator and the structure of coupling between cavities; Finally, based on the previous theory, the cross-coupled filter based on equilateral triangle SIW resonator is taken a further research.In recent years, a large number of documents have already taken a deep research on filters based on rectangular or circular SIW resonator. Compared with them, the equilateral triangle SIW resonator has the advantage of convenient layout and compact structure. By using this feature, and on the basis of giving full play to the compact advantage of equilateral triangle SIW resonator, this paper designs sixth-degree planar cross-coupled bandpass filters and fourth-degree multilayer cross-coupled narrowband band-pass filters. After the simulation and optimization through commercial software-High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), the results reveal high restraint outside the band and good frequency selectivity.
