The Design And Implementation Of Flex Based Localization Testing Integrated Development Environment (IDE)

Adobe Flex is a highly productive, free, open source framework for building expressive cross platform rich Internet application. As standard enterprise application development solution of Adobe Flash platform, Flex helps traditional developers create standard Flash application with powerful object-oriented language (ActionScript 3) and standardized XML description language MXML. With the cross platform capability of Flash runtime, Flex technology can deploy to Web sites, desktops as Windows, Mac OSX and Linux, mobile devices like android, iOS and Blackberry OS that makes user interface uniformity cross platforms and deployment anywhere come to reality. As a strong candidate of next generation network development technology, Flex is known to Chinese developers since 2006. And after years of high speed expansion, now Flex has been a mainstream technology in thousands of media companies, gaming companies, Internet companies and traditional industrial users.This paper writes about the design and implementation of Localization testing integrated development environment, which is sub system of my company's cross platform Localization testing system. It detailed describes all the lifecycle elements of a software product:requirements design, technical background, outline design and implementation.Localization testing means testing against localized versions of software, includes basic functional testing, install/uninstall testing, and locale related software and hardware compatibility testing. Cross platform Localization testing system is designed to implement automation testing in cross platform Localization testing business, what our company put great effort to in recent years. It can runs in various platforms (includes Windows, Mac, Linux, Mobile), and can runs automation testing in various platforms and multi languages with a script. This greatly reduces the cost of test case development and test case execution, improves the efficiency of Localization testing.As a sub system of cross platform Localization testing system, Localization testing integrated development environment is designed as a visual integrated development environment to reduce the development and maintain cost of test case runs in cross platform Localization testing system. Localization testing integrated development environment is developed with Flex technology, and can runs in Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux operating systems with the cross platform capability. It provides integration with other components of cross platform Localization testing system, like agents, test case development projects. It can import existing manual test cases in our company into test case development project, and also defines a new file format which can record the operations in remote servers, then we can edit and manage test cases and related test assets together.
