In the production process of the iron and steel, accurate positioning and fast transporting for the production tools and materials can directly affect the entire production efficiency. In the modern large transportation field, the bridge crane has been playing an important role. But the traditional crane positioning system has many defects such as low positioning accuracy, poor efficiency and unstable running process, which restricts the production efficiency largely. So as to insure the bridge crane can position effectively and exactly, run fast and smoothly.The issue will utilize fuzzy control algorithm into the positioning system and combine with laser ranging technology and OPC standard interface technology.Firstly, for the crane positioning system, the paper analyzed the status of the related technology and studied its operating principle. After these basic works, proposeing a method using speed sensor based on laser ranging and combining with PLC and inverter to achieve a high precise and efficient positioning system and closed-loop control. Meanwhile we described the structure of the positioning system and cleared the functions of all parts of the system.Secondly, using Visual Basic as the development platform, we utilized OPC standard interface as technology to write HMI monitoring software for the special crane positioning system. Comparing to usual monitoring software, it can achieve a more dynamic images and more flexible and targeted. Finally, for the speed control, completing the fuzzy controller's design and using the fuzzy control strategy based on PLC to adjust the speed, it completed the fuzzy control procedures for positioning system which written by ladder scheme. Our work greatly improved the level of the crane automatic control and insured the running gear of the bridge crane achieved absolutely precise recognition and closed-loop control currently.Scientific novelty checkig have shown that the proposed positioning system control strategy and special software design in the paper are the first time at home and abroad. The system is running successfully in Tianjin Taiyuan Iron and Steel Company, and all have good effects.
