With the popularity and development of Internet, network services develop from traditional data services to multimedia services which include voice, video and so on. Multimedia services require high bandwidth, low delay and low jitter. In order to provide QoS guarantee for the multimedia services, IETF proposes DiffServ model. Since DiffServ model is coarse-grained network services classification, it is difficult to provide QoS guarantee for the new services with the rapid development of network application. Service identification is a mature technology which can effectively and accurately identify network services. By combination of services identification and DiffServ model, this thesis studies the application of service identification to meet QoS requirements of the services. This thesis first presents the concept and the technology of service identification, introduces the definition of network QoS, describes IntServ model and DiffServ model and presents QoS routing. This thesis proposes a QoS routing model based on service identification, explains the design and architecture of the model through analyzing DiffServ model. The model consists of the service identification module, the service classification module and the routing module. Then a selective probing QoS routing algorithm with multi-prefix is proposed. This thesis introduces the background and the core ideology of the algorithm and defines control messages and routing information. The algorithm consists of probing phase and acknowledgement phase. In the end the thesis analyzes the algorithm complexity and performance through NS2 simulation tool. The results show that the algorithm has good performance.
