When the IP network carry more and more extensive services, the network planning and optimization of the IP core network become more and more important. This paper starts from the network planning and optimization of the actual network and focus on network planning and optimization methods of BGP which has an important position in the IP core network.BGP is one of the current important supporting technologies in the IP core network, it has a. rich routing policy control mechanism and is widely used in flow sharing, quality control, and network maintenance and management. With the continuous growth of users and applications, BGP planning and optimization becomes the most critical content of the IP core network planning and optimization work. This paper describes the BGP protocol, including BGP message types and formats, BGP's finite state machine and various routing attributes, and then describes the general BGP protocol planning methods in the IP core network.BGP planning and optimization is divided into two directions of routing forwarding layer and data forwarding layer. In view of the flow characteristics of IP core network, the IP core network usually presents a layered network structure. In this mode, planning for the BGP routing layer, this paper presents an incremental planning methods used to implement the IP network migration of all reflection network environment from old IP core network. For the BGP business layer, this paper deeply analyzes BGP routing policy configuration of using community attribute to achieve customer automatic management, and then put forward a BGP routing policy configuration of using business classification to achieve flow share.Network simulation is the primary means of the IP core network planning and optimization, large cases are simulated through network simulation tools to prove the feasibility of incremental planning method, this paper elaborates a typical case of migration from "IGP+BGP" network environment to the BGP all reflection network environment. For the BGP routing policy configuration based on business classification to achieve flow share, the network simulation tool OPNET is used. Firstly, the topology of IP core network is simplified, and the simplified topology uses the routing policy configuration of community property to achieve the automatic user management. Then comparison test is done in this simplified IP core network, the BGP routing policy configuration based on business classification to achieve flow share is implemented in this test to verify its feasibility.
