The Design And Realization Of Data Communication Network Discover Method Based On IS-IS Protocol

Based on deeply undertanding IS-IS routing protocol and many tests on Alcatel-Lucent transmission network, the theme studies the method to discover Data Communication Network (DCN) topology based on IS-IS routing protocol, the theme introduces the method, and how to realize it, and develops the program and use the program to approve the method.The theme firstly analysises the situation of current network topology discovery, considering the current telecommunication network situation. At present, it is very little resource focus on the DCN management, while DCN should be managed and controlled for a well-running telecom network. Since in carrier network, IS-IS routing protocol is widely used in telecommunication network, so it is possible to discover DCN topology by using IS-IS routing protocol.The theme briefly introduce the IS-IS routing protocol and some basic concepts and terms, and analysis the datagram structure in IS-IS routing protocol, including some common TLV values.Then the theme points out how the routing information is maintained and transmitted within network according to IS-IS routing protocol, how the routing table in each node is synchronized. The theme introduces three key datagrams, and points out how the topology information is stored in the datagram. The, the theme provides a method which can discover the DCN topology by using IS-IS protocol datagram.Based on many tests running on Alcatel-Lucent transmission network and lots of research work on datagrams captured from live network, it is proved that the real network routing behavior follows the IS-IS protocol requirement, and the DCN network topology discovery method by using IS-IS protocol datagram is workable.To realize the method, the theme introduces the detailed steps about how to handle the captured datagrams, how to transform the datagram to minial relation table, how to draw the DCN topology. The theme introduces how to programe it, and by using a programmed software, DCN topology of a real Alcatel-Lucent network can be successfully discovered, which means the DCN topology discover method provided by this theme is applicable and can be realized by software programming.At last, the theme points out some development areas for DCN topology discover method by deeply using IS-IS routing protocol. Since many segments defined in IS-IS routing protocol, which riches the IS-IS routing protocol, so IS-IS routing protocol is very stable and extendable, it has a brilliant development future.
