With the rapid development of market economic and the advance of industrialization process, thecurrent society as a whole is in a rational age. Individuals are more or less influenced by their ownrationality and even the social rationality in the process of being engaged in the related affairs and activities.Similarly, postgraduate students, born and grew up under the background of rapidly changed socialtransformation, are an important part of the contemporary youth. How should they choose their occupationorientation, occupation goals, occupation demand, and the strategies of realization when meeting with thecomplicated situations and factors? Not only should these issues be considered by the university students,but they should be greatly concerned by the academics, universities and relevant government departmentsas well. Because of this, the author of this article pays much attention to the theme of the low-gradegraduates' occupation demand and the way of realization. This study aims at revealing the job demandconditions and its Influence in factors among some contemporary low-grade graduates, exploring andpaying attention to the strategies of realizing their occupation demand, so as to provide a clear reference tosimilar graduate to better establish their career goals, make vocational orientation and clear vocationalneeds, etc.On the background of the social transformation in the new period, making the formation andrealization path of occupation demand of low-grade graduate as the main line and the perspective ofrational choice theory as the analysis perspective, through depth interviews this study research theself-concept, recognition status, state of mind, the process of formation and changing of the goals and theinfluencing factors of the occupation among the current low-grade graduates. Through drawing relevantviews and theory on theory of rational choice, In-depth analysis is made about the behavior, the way andprocess of action preformed by current low-grade graduates' occupation demand and the strategies ofrealization. Aimed at summarizing the context and the model of the formation of contemporary low-gradegraduates' occupation demand which rational choice as the starting point, so as to provide a referencemodel for broader group with similar situation.In this study, there are conclusions as follows: Firstly, the formation and realization of vocationaldemand of low-grade graduates is the result of rational choice of individual actors; Secondly, the formationand evolution of career goals of low-grade graduates are affected by survival rational, economic rationalityand social rationality; Thirdly, the statue and achieving path of vocational demand of low-grade graduatesare the result of joint action of micro-rational, middle-rational and macro-rational action. On this basis, thisstudy further demonstrates the effectiveness and limitations Coleman's rational choice theory to the studyfrom the following aspects, aimed at showing the applicability and innovation of the theory. Firstly, therelationship among Individual, interests and resources of low-grade graduates' occupation demand;Secondly, the relationship among exchange, right, trust and norms of low-grade graduates' occupationdemand; Thirdly, the relationship between individuals and legal person; Fourthly, the relationship among microcosmic, medium, the macroscopic of low-grade graduates' occupation demand.Some difficulties still exist in the process of carrying out this study as there are certain innovativeduring the implementation.
