Modern distance education, as a new way of education, has played its role in the range ofagriculture and in the region of countryside since the early20th century. This has made it possible to usemodern network and communicative technology to impart not only the idea of management and thetechnology in agricultural industry, but also to transmit agricultural information and knowledge topeasants.Through years of exploration and practice, modern rural distance education has played an activerole in solving the problems of agriculture, countryside and peasants. Through overall investigation andin-depth inquiries to know the real situation of modern distance education in the city of Jixi, thefollowing thesis, with the aid of the analyses of the significant problems in the development of ruralmodern distance education and the ultimate reasons that restrict the function, is trying to find out theway and method to deal with the situation so as to, for one thing, bring a wealth of experience for thefurther research of modern distance education serving "Agriculture, countryside, peasants", and foranother to provide invaluable materials to consult to or even learn from in the future with the aim ofpromoting the development of agriculture, the stability of countryside and the increase of peasants'income in a scientific way. During the process of study, documentary research, questionnaires,comparative study, case studies and other methods have been used.This thesis elaborates the conception of modern distance education, the progress of itsdevelopment and the domestic and abroad status of research and application. On the foundation ofin-depth study of the current situation of agriculture, countryside and peasants in the city of Jixi, thisthesis introduces objectively the actual development and effect of modern rural distance education there.It not only includes a case study of the application of modern rural distance education in Jixi, but sumsup the existing problems in the development of modern rural distance education in that area as well. Thestudy makes clear that the modern rural distance education has become an essential way for the peasantsto master and make use of modern agricultural technology, learn the skill of management and economicproduction in the new countryside, create the economic growth rate in the new countryside. Beingrecognized and accepted by most of the peasants, it has boomed the rural economy. Thanks to thepractice of modern rural distance education, the qualities of the peasants have improved extensively, theapplication of agricultural technology has paced up, the new technology and methods in the agriculturalindustry and secondary industry have improvised continually, and the specific productive rate hasincreased. After in-depth analysis, the problems existed in the development of modern rural distanceeducation in the city of Jixi are embodied mainly in the following seven aspects: the comparativelyfragile infrastructure, the lack of aim of teaching content, the inflexibility of teaching methods, theunreasonableness of teaching schedule, the restriction of the source of the funds, the lack of scientificworking system and the superficiality of the study on teaching. The major reasons that cause theseproblems are: the lagging of infrastructure construction, the elusive aim of teaching, the old-fashionedteaching method, the lack of scientifical teaching schedule, the shortage of the guarantee of enoughfunds, the miss of the scientific overall working system and the absence of the theoretical study.This thesis illustrates the significance of modern distance education in the development of countryside. Modern distance education is an effective measure which boosts rural economy, maintainits stability and increase peasants' income. Indeed, rural modern distance education in Jixi City will beconstructed scientifically, systematically and effectively on the whole. This will definitely become avalid guarantee for boosting agriculture through science and education. Furthermore, factors areinvolved to consider as a fundamental countermeasure to implement the new policy to promoteagriculture by applying scientific and technological advances and to construct the new socialistcountryside. Clearly, updating educational ideas, improving teaching content and methods, discussingthe controversial issues and concerning about the scientific and theological research are the effectiveways to boost the development of rural modern distance education. |
