| It is a common problem that the senior students are weak in English writing and it's also one of thedifficulties encountered by many English teachers. But errors are inevitable. The teachers, based on thesystematic analysis of students' errors, will get some ideas of how far towards the goal they haveprogressed and, consequently, what remains for them to learn. The students' errors can be identified,classified and analyzed and the fact reveals the development of built-in system operation with learners. Inthe study, the aim is to find out what errors our students often make and what causes there errors; therefore,we can take the right strategies to improve students' writing.The thesis extracted120writing samples from Affiliated Middle School of Henan Normal Universityas the research subjects, analyzing the errors made by Chinese high school students in the English writing.The participants involved in the research are120Grade Two students in senior high school, who arerequired to write the same and unified writing tasks. The author tries to collect and analyze the errors inEnglish writing of senior high school students by quantitative and qualitative methods. After that, theauthor records the errors made by the students. According to the result, the lexical errors and syntacticerrors take up the biggest proportion in the total errors. The aim of English writing teaching is to improvethe writing ability; however, the analysis of causes of errors can have positive effect to English teaching.The causes of errors are: interlingual error, intralingual errors and the different features between Englishand Chinese. Besides, the learners' learning and communicating strategies and even the teachers' trainingmethods for their students are also important for English writing.Following the analysis and discussion, effective teaching methods and tactics are put forward. Theteachers should develop the students' English thinking ability, emphasize language output, and take anactive attitude towards the errors and error corrections. The teachers should also help students consolidatethe base knowledge and increase language input, especially to cultivate a fine linguistic sense of English forthe students. Besides, the teachers should try hard to improve students' abilities of listening, reading,speaking and writing, making them capable of getting English information, processing it and solving therelated problems. In the conclusion part, we hope that our discussion will be helpful for the language teachers to solve the writing problems. |
