Questionnaire survey and analysis are conducted on the adaptability to the campus life of the minority preppies from Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. With the understanding of their practical difficulties, this thesis is to give some advices on how to involve in the campus life as soon as possible. Furthermore, this research is also a FYI (for your information) to teach and manage the minority students. The minority preppies from Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region traveled long distances to come to Beijing for further study. Facing the new environment, they will meet all kinds of difficulties about adapting to the campus life. Using a comprehensive method of documentations research, questionnaire survey and depth interview, this research takes the preppies from Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, who entered College of Education, Minzu University of China, as research object. The results are as follows. The difficulties with high frequency that preppies encountered are the difficulty of learning, the financial problem, feel loneliness, the problem of getting on with others, as well as problem of eating. Among the above difficulties, the financial problem is the biggest difficulty and the loneliness feeling is the second one.In regard to how to face the troubles, different students take different measures. Most students have difficulties in untangling the problems. The measures with high frequency are praying hard to god, spending time on hobbies, talking to other people, as well as feeling sad without doing anything. Only few people would like to seek counseling and treatment, or ask help to teachers in charge of the class. In connection with the learning problem, most students dislike to make study plans. Several students have incorrect attitude toward studying and are usually lazy. Furthermore, quite a number of students cannot follow the teachers or dislike the ways that the teachers teach them, so they would never ask for help even if they meet difficulties. In addition, most students are anxious about their English learning.Concerning the cultural adaptation, nearly all the preppies show special preference to their minority language, so that few choose to speak mandarin. Many admit that they have been brought into derision and feel embarrassed for not speaking mandarin fluently. Many are worried that they will be assimilated in the traditional Han culture. Others concern that their minority status would affect the adaption to the campus culture. In relation to adapting the daily life, most preppies communicate with the students of the same minority. Nearly all of them couldn't adapt themselves to the campus life environment like climate in Beijing, the eating habits, as well as the bathing habit. In addition, few students who come from the city have some difficulties in looking after themselves in daily life. Based on the above study, advices are given as follows:(1) take psychological educations to promote their psychological quality to adaptive capacity;(2) update the ideology of teaching management to improve their learning ability;(3) strengthen the culture construction to build a culture oriented campus atmosphere;(4) improve campus overall daily life environment to benefit all the students.
