A Study Of The Responsibilities Of Superintendents Of School District In The United States

In this paper, the core issue is the Responsibilities of Superintendents of School District in the United States. Superintendent plays a vital role in school district management and shoulders a wide range responsibility. And the responsibility which has been developing with time presents a kind of diversity. This kind of diversity is caused by a variety of factors, which include the type of school district, the size of school district, the surrounding of school district and students' background. Although superintendent has various responsibilities and those responsibilities have been changing with time, he or she plays a key role in a given period of time. Through analyzing the development process of the Superintendents of School in the United States, the responsibilities and their implementation, comparing with the superintendents in China, it concludes some inspiration and reference for the educational administration of the superintendents of cities and counties in China.Completed thesis consist introduction and three parts:Introduction introduces the reason, research ideas and research status of this topic, and the defining of the core concept; the first part of this paper start with the development process of the role of Superintendents of School in the United States; the second part analyze the main responsibilities, request of the positions and specific implementation of the duties of superintendents in reality and effect, and find out that the responsibilities and requirements are always changing with the time; then the third part introduce the superintendents in local China, the quite Education Secretary's duties and implementation, and conclude with recommendations and inspiration.
