As a vehicle of communication in English, listening is an important means of receiving information and also an essential basis for information feedback. Therefore, the teaching of listening has attracted great attention. However, traditional teaching materials not only have old and dull content, but also offer quite boring exercises, which can not meet the requirements of information-based society and reduces students'learning initiative as well.Most Internet English news are taken directly from broadcast and television announcement in English-speaking countries. Its vocabulary, syntactical structure and structure are very rigorous. As broadcast content, they are very colloquial. Applying these live and standard news which cover and contain abundant cultural connotation to the teaching of English listening would improve the students'listening ability and command of the language. This thesis is based on wide research on the application of Internet English news listening. By using document collection, questionnaire and entering into education survey on the ground, and combining her own teaching experiences, the author explores the possibility of applying Internet English News in the listening class under the guidance of Schema Theory and Metacognition Theory. In addition, the author also designs"Questionnaire of Listening to Internet English News", which surveys the listening activities of the English-majors of different grades and classes from a secondary school. Based on the integrated data statistics, the author analyzes difficulties in listening to Internet English news and puts forward some corresponding strategies.
