From the autumn of 2005, Jiangsu Province began the new round of reform of secondary education phase, that is, the implementation of the new high school curriculum. As an important part of the curriculum , High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards has received a lot of attention. In the light of the teaching practice of the new curriculum standards, this paper uses teaching theory as a guide. In the light of the relevant research achievements of mathematics education, the paper also employs many kinds of research methods, such as literature review , comparative study, analysis, interview, survey research to evaluate the new textbooks in theory, especially based on textbooks in analytic geometry for Jiangsu section published by People's Education Press in 1999 and 2003. It goes deep into division of class periods, teaching contents, teaching methods, teaching objectives and assignments .This paper icomprises five chapters .ChapterⅠdeals with the background of the study.ChapterⅡis a literature review.ChapterⅢmakes a comparative analysis of the syllabus and curriculum standards .ChapterⅣanalyzes three sets of textbooks, comparing the different teaching contents, division of class periods and assignments.ChapterⅤincludes the conclusion and some suggestions.ChapterⅥpending further study.Aims at making a contribution to the the reform and development of maths teaching in high schools.
