Language plays an important role in communication, and vocabulary is one of its three key elements (pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar) which influences communication. So vocabulary learning is an important part of foreign language learning. To obtain enough vocabulary, we must grasp and properly use vocabulary learning strategies. Therefore, it's necessary and significant to teach our students some useful vocabulary learning strategies, especially the associative learning stratigies.Many studies' have shown that associative learning strategies can help learners link their existing knowledge with their present learning, and therefore enhance the learning process. These strategies can be especially useful in helping learners memorizing new words.By analyzing the situation and senior school students characteristics, the author attempts to adopt vocabulary associative strategies in teaching practice to help the students learn English words and have carried out the experiment of vocabulary associative strategy training among them.The findings of the research indicate that vocabulary associative strategies are scientific and effective for senior one students, which can develop their consciousness of this strategy use, make them grasp and use some vocabulary learning approaches, improve their ability of learning and remembering vocabulary, arouse their interest in learning vocabulary and help them learn English better.
