A Research On The Quality Of Elementary School Textbooks In Terms Of Its Physical Properties

As an indispensible part of teaching material, textbooks are the carriers of the realization of course target and course content, playing an important role in teaching activities. Therefore, the quality of textbooks has a direct influence on the effectiveness of teaching. However, with the rapid development of social economic and the deepening of Educational reform, the research and improvement of course content has failed to meet the requirement of making a good textbook. To better off the quality of textbooks, attention should be paid to improving its carrier function. For many years, the increasing printing and biding problems has become an obstacle of the textbooks' communication function. Thereby, this text will focus on the research into the quality of textbooks in terms of its physical property.Correspond with knowledge content (spiritual production), the physical property of textbooks together with its course content determine the quality of textbooks The physical property of textbooks includes four factors as follow:layout, paper, print and biding, which makes an effective way to display the textbooks'course content, producing to the readers a general impression on the textbook. Accordingly, the research will be conducted centered with these four factors. Firstly, the rationality of the layout of the primary mathematic textbooks (three different versions) is to be analyzed, including character style, word size, word space and page number. Secondly, analysis is to be made about the textbooks'paper use, including colors and weight. Thirdly, this text will throw light upon the need of the use of an environmental friendly ink, which is closely related to the students'heath. Fourthly, this text will put forward some suggestions with regard to the biding problem of the textbooks. Finally, the text will make a discussion on the trends of the physical property of textbooks.
