As vocabulary is the building materials of language formation and the fundamental element of language , naturally it is an important object of language studies. Even though a large amount of time and energy has been spent on vocabulary learning in the High School, the results are far from being satisfactory. The Curriculum Criterion of English Teaching in Ordinary High School issued by the Education Department in 2003 gives strong suggestions that various types of teaching approaches, including Task-based Language Teaching, be adopted. As we know, most of researches about Task-based Language Teaching are done with university students for subjects, very few have been done to cover the classes of High School, neither has the Vocabulary Incidental Learning, nor the Task-based Language Teaching has been deliberated.This research attempts to explore how to operate and realize the English Vocabulary Incidental Learning in High School, adopting the Teaching Mode of Task-based Language teaching according to the New Curriculum Standards by analyzing the relation between teaching and vocabulary learning. The research introduces the present situation of vocabulary teaching, and points out the problems and analyzes the causes of the problems. In accordance with the higher requirements of the Frameworks of New Curriculum Standards, the research draws a conclusion that Task-based Language Teaching can meet the requirements of Vocabulary Incidental Learning in both theory and practice, by researching the Vocabulary Incidental Learning and Task-based Language Teaching. Then, the research summarizes the principles of the Vocabulary Incidental Learning by Task-based Language Teaching in High School, as well as the methods and process of designing a task, and practices a specific teaching in English class by designing a series of tasks to show how to realize the English Vocabulary Incidental Learning by Task-based Language Teaching. Further, feed-back of the teaching effects is also presented.The research not only explores the ways of increasing open-task activities and exploring learning content in teaching, reflecting the teaching principles of'learning in doing, learning in using'in New Curriculum Reform, but also makes conducive exploration of English teaching and teaching strategies. |
