Advanced Level courses, commonly referred to A-Level, are general certificate of education advanced courses offered by British institutions, where it gains wide recognition and serve as UK public university entrance examinations courses. Almost all the course certificates are regarded as entrance standard to enroll students by universities with English as the teaching language. Henceforth, A-Level course ia praised by International educational field as Golden education courses and Golden standard for university entrance around the world. The principle of chemical reaction occupies an important place in senior high school chemistry teaching. It is an important part of chemical basic theory, henceforth attracts the most attention during several times of chemistry course reform both at home and abroad. By approaching this module, this paper draws a parrallel between British A-Level textbook and Chinese teaching book published by PEP in the following aspects:course standard of this module, teaching contents, teaching organization, and teaching presentation. By doing so, The writer trys to anlayse out the characteristics of A-Level textbook so as to bring some inspirations to the editing of chemistry textbook in China.Through comparison, the conclusion are drawn as follows:First, both A-Level and PEP version textbooks cover all the research results of the principle of chemical reaction in modern chemistry history, which shows that the contents of the two textbooks are both foundation-oriented and up-to-date. The foundational concept and theory are increasingly intending to be chosen from a wide connections among science-techonolgy-society-environment rather than from mere chemistry subject. On the whole, the knowledge focuses covered in A-Level textbook are more widespread and more difficult than PEP version textbook in China, which embody a higer requirement for British students to master.Second, in the organization of the teaching, two textbooks could help students smoothly graps the concepts and essence of the principal of the chemical reaction, of which the structure shows the logical system of the concept and principal, and the basic research method and process of the subject as well. PEP version textbook in China focus more on the function of experiments, in which it presents varieties of experiments with the purpose of developing students'abilities to observe, find, and solve problems. In A-level textbook, there aren't as many experiments, but it focus more on quantitive test and qualitive test, intending to develop students practical ability to process statistics and students' cognitive process.Third, in the presentation of teaching content, both version provide ample STS learning situation. Colomums, illustrations, tables, and exercises are applied to fully stimulate students' motive and lead students to do science exploration in real situation. British A-Level text book is well-made and well-printed, while PEP version is lively and novelly presented, with more stress put on students'participation.
