A Study Of Chinese University's Humanistic Sprit And Social Values

University's humanistic sprit is always subject to people's attention. Chinese society is undergoing great changes while Chinese university'humanistic sprit is weak, all of these require the construction of the university's humanistic sprit. This dissertation discussed the humanistic sprit and the social values in the perspective of historical and comparative.Whether the history of western higher education or the history of Chinese higher education indicate that both humanistic education within the university has gone through by the central place to the conflict with the integration of science education and then to gradually marginalized and being taken seriously later.History further indicates that:University's humanistic sprit affected by political factors, social factors and the development factors of university. The impact of political factors main features:the impact of the government to university and the relations between the executive authority and the academic authority within the university. The overall form of society and social thoughts also affect in university's humanistic sprit. In terms of their own development, curriculum and internal management will affect the cultivation of humanistic spirit.University's humanistic sprit has important social value:values to be humanity, values of understanding and exchange of culture, values of social criticism and to lead society and so on.However, by the interference of governments excessive focus on economic development, diversification of social thought and the internal administration of university and other factors, university's humanistic sprit in worldwide is under threat, and the same of Chinese university.If we want to get out of this dilemma, we must take certain measures, such as: adhere to rhythm of the times, pay attention to the cultivation of humanistic environment; strengthen the organizational culture, optimizing the management within university to reduce the impact of administration; adjust the curriculum, integration of science and humanities, encourage general education and so on. Now, some universities in China began to put reform into practice, such as "Yuan Pei Project" of Beijing University, the "University Regulations" of Fudan University, and a series of measures taken by Southern University of Science and Technology and so on.
