Since the 90s of 20 century, especially the first decade of the new century,"global villages"are closely related with each other and develop quickly. The quick development of economic globalization has had a deep influence on economy, politics, culture, military affairs, and society, etc. At the same time, the competition between countries has evolved into the competition of comprehensive national power between centuries. The competition of"soft national power"is as severe as that of"hard power"of economic strength, science and technology strength, and military strength, etc. National ethos and cohesion is the cultural support of a country, which helps improve its competitive capacity. Thus developing national ethos and cohesion is the pre-requisite of a well-off and harmonious society, and the emotional base and idealistic guarantee of China's national revival. In a word, the study of national ethos and cohesion is an important part in the theoretical and practical study of China's socialist modernization establishment, and has great realistic significance.This essay is guided by Marxism, discusses the globalization, social changes brought by China's reform, national ethos and cohesion, and then puts forwards the strategy of constructing new style ethos and cohesion. The system,value,culture and ideology are evolving to be vital resource power in the"soft power". The ethos and cohesion in the"soft power"are becoming an important scale to measure a country's comprehensive national strength. In the aspect to influence outside variety in the international society, the western countries, especially America, they are always in the leading station, and the developing countries are always in the dilemma to face the choice of accepting or refusing. China should take part actively in the international economic circulation and competition, to acclimate the historical developing tide of foreign opening, to accelerate the development of the modernization, to build up the national confidence and the national"soft power".The second part makes the key part of this essay. It introduces the new problems and new challenges to the Chinese nation brought by the globalization. The traditional social classes and interest pattern broke up while the social classes continually divided. The spread of social diversity trend of thought makes a great challenge and shock to the traditional culture of our nation. The powerful effects from the western main culture restrict the play of self-defense of various national cultures.
