Murray Bookchin has been a precursor of ecological studies and ecological movements since 1950s. His basic conception --human beings dominating and exploiting nature stems from the domination and exploitation of man by man--still runs through the ecological politics theory. This paper will tap and evaluate these ecological politics thoughts.Bookchin suggests the fundamental cause of ecological crisis lies in social hierarchy and epistemologies of rule, not lie in population expansion, technology advance and consumption alienation. In addition, he also constructs the blueprint of future society, he believes that the ecological society is characterized by the harmonious relationship between man and nature, decentralization, direct democracy, ecological technology. For the path to ecological society,he thinks that includes the impact of ecological movements and public education. Bookchin not only makes great efforts to do a new exploration on the cause of ecological crisis and the future society in theory, but also influences the development of ecological politics and Green movements in Europe and America. However, inevitablely there are still some inadequacies in Bookchin's thought.
