The issue of South Sudan is caused by the intertwining of multiple factors like history, races, religions, culture, politics and economy and their sustained fermentation. The modern history of Sudan has witnessed its creation and evolution, a process unique and highly complicated. Racial, religious and cultural differences between the North and the South serve as the basic cause of the problem, and the Divide and Rule policy of the British colonialists, the catalyst. Discrimination and high-pressure of the Northern Arabic political elites against the South is the main reason for the procrastination of the solution, and the intervention of external forces is an important dynamism for the independence of South Sudan as the final solution of the problem. The independence of the South Sudan is the first split of a nation in the African continent in the new century, and after the secession of Eritrea from Ethiopia in the 1990s. It is bound to have a far-reaching impact on Sudan's future politics and regional peace and tranquility or even on the whole of Africa. The South will have to meet the major challenges of dealing with Sudan properly and keeping internal stability after its independence. China's friendship with Sudan is traditional, and its interests especially energy interest in Sudan are huge, therefore, the independence of South Sudan will render such relations and interests at stake.
