An Exploration Of Marx's Social Communication Theory

Communication is a special behavior of human beings, which is accompanied by the emergence of human beings. Human survival and development are inseparable from the communication. With the development of science and technology and the acceleration of globalization, the communication among people is increasingly close. Communication, as an important driving force of social progress, is the basic category of historical materialism. The general development history of communication is the prerequisite for social and historical change. Communication Theory is an important component of Marxist philosophy, It shows materialism of Marx who founded the idea of the evolution of human society. The exploration from the production practice to the issue of communicative action for people provides a unique research perspective. Based on the historical background, this article starts from the formation of communication theory and analyses the impact of various thoughts of communication to Marxist ideas, and the formation of Marxist theory of social interaction can be divided into four stages:sprouting, formation, development and deepening, and the analysis of each stage is detailed in order to reflect the development of Marxist theory of communication.The Marxist Theory of Communication covers a broad content, including all areas of social relations. It refers to in a certain historical conditions, in a certain social practice, the unity of the relationship of material and spiritual among a variety of individuals and social communities and other social groups in reality, which influences, constraints, promotes, and develops mutually one another. Communication and development is prerequisite for each other, producing makes the forms of communication while communication preserves productivity. Communication is important to social development and personal development, communication is the basis for comprehensive development of individuals and it is not only the premise of enriching personal relationships, but also the dynamic evolution of the social system and the condition of changes from national history to world history.Habermas, as a famous philosopher of contemporary West, is one of representatives of the Marxist Frankfurt School of Western society. This paper compared Communication Theory of Marx with Habermas's communication theory. In the theoretical system of Habermas, the "communicative rationality" is the core point. He thinks that understanding is the core element of communication and the essential characteristics, which exaggerates the role of language. The Marxist theory of communication adhere to the basic status of material production, that is to say, production makes the forms of communication and communication is a prerequisite of material production, the two are mutually united. Habermas understands Marx's intention in an one-sided way.Marx's theory of communication still has important contemporary values in globalization nowadays. It has theoretical significances for us to establish a correct concept of social interaction, to advance a revolution of practical means of communication, to use a variety of social control mechanisms, to encourage people to take initiative to carry out communication practice, to give full play to the function of social interaction, to achieve comprehensive development of human beings and build a harmonious society.
