The Study Of Elite-Mass Integration In The Contemporary Chinese Political Process

Elite-Mass integration as a vertical political integration is known as an important form of the political integration, which is one of five dimensions of the political integration. Elite-Mass integration in the contemporary Chinese political process emerges from the strict alienation between elites and mass and takes an important role in the interaction between elites and mass. In order to enhance the political stability, promote the political development and achieve the highest authority of the state power, elite-mass integration stresses that the state should play an important role in coordinating the relation of elites and mass. At the same time, elite-mass integration takes elites and masses'integration into the unified political system and the consensus between elites and mass as its pursuit. When we examine the political process in the contemporary china, we can see that china's social relations and social structure have changed greatly after reform and opening up. With the expansion of contracts between all kinds of political actors, on the one hand, the differentiation of the interest is increasing, the frequency of the conflict is strengthening, and on the other hand, the democratic political voice is rising. As a result, the problem of the alienation between elites and mass becomes more and more serious. Due to the effect of specialized functions of the organization and complicated operation mechanism, the rift of elites and mass is deepening further. In a word, to some extent country's long stability and continued prosperity have been weakened because of the existence of political tension and political unrest in the contemporary Chinese political process. How, then, to reach the same understanding and the consensus on the substantive and procedural between elites and mass? The answer is that we must emphasis on elite-mass integration. Therefore the study of elite-mass integration in the contemporary Chinese political process is very valuable. This paper based on the perspective of political sociology is nationalist-oriented, which has made a certain inspection and exploration into the problems, the causes, the effects, the approaches and some ideas about elite-mass integration in order to respond the issues of elite-mass integration in our country well.
