Language is the communication tool only for humans. When the language used in actual communication, it can be easily recoginized. There are so many languages in the world. The number of languages is5,561that are existed in more than200countries and districts. Among them, English gained the fame of "world language, international language" and is considered the language of great vitality. An article published in the news paper Economics claiming the English as language empire, which is on the basis that, according to statistics, among the whole world citizens (more than60billion people)4billion people deploy English as first language, more than3billion people use it as the second language, over10billion people are learning English and more than20billion people have chances to expose to the English. Since1990s, the boost prosperity of the internet accelerates the spread of English as a" world language." According to another statistics, more than85%of the websites written in English and among more than5000world languages, English is the richest language in the world. At present, the English language is used in airlines, commerce, trade, technology media, news broadcast, TV, etc. Even the XJTV2(the universal TV channel in Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous Region which used to be broadcasted only yin Uyghur language around the clock service) now contented English news for10minutes. Although most people can't understand what the necessity is. It is the strong international influence of the English. This is the example of influential languages affecting weak languages. Under the strong international influence of English and the language contact, Uyghur language is strongly influenced by English. And the appearance of the loan words is the concrete example of language influence.Because of the frequent contact of different ethnic groups, the phenomenon of borrowing words from different languages becomes the common trend of the "global village". Appearance of the borrowings is the common phenomenon during the development of the languages. Borrowings are common for the language during its development. There is no language in the world without borrowings. With economy globalizing, the language also begins to globalize, the symbol of globalization is the appearance of the borrowings. As one of the most frequently used languages in Xinjing Uyghur autonomous region, Uyghur language affects other languages, meanwhile is influenced by other international languages. The sign of mutual influence is the English borrowings in Uyghur languages. Uyghur language directly or indirectly borrows many words from English. This paper will study about the English borrowings in Uyghur language. The first part of the thesis is introduction. This part of the paper mainly discusses the meaning and the aim to compose this paper, reviews the relevant literature of the former researchers which are both at home and abroad, discusses the researching method used in this paper. The second part clarifies the term "borrowings" by explaining the different definitions of the borrowings, discusses the history of English borrowings in Uyghur language and then classifies them from different perspects. Last part of this chapter will discuss the reasons of borrowing words. The third part illustrates the phonetic changes of English borrowings in Uyghur language, mainly compares the vowels of the original word to the vowels of the assimilated borrowed word, including the features and rules short vowel, long vowel, diphthongs during their assimilation. The forth part analyzes the syllable structure of the borrowed words, discusses the narrowing, expanding and shift of the meaning and then discusses the characters and standardization of borrowed words. Chapter five studies the manner of English borrowings, its influence on Uyghur culture and Uyghur students who are learning English, as well as people's response to borrowings in Uyghur language.
