And in the social control, Su Shi, not onlyinfluenced by the the concept of "Morality Guiding and Punishment Supplementing" oftraditional Confucian, which urged him to inthroned that using both moral and law, anda combination of social soft control and hard control, but he was good at using people'sfear of religion in order to achieve the purpose of stable social order. In addition, Su Shiwas influenced by the concept of "Fixed assets makes people loyal" of traditionalConfucian, thought the key of holding social order stability was making people to liveand work in peace and contentment, so the solution about land system, tax system,water conservancy project, people's disaster and injury relief were given high attention.Su Shi 's social thought had strong comprehensive, propriety-oriented and stressingthe people's livelihood for the characteristics. Although Su Shi fused Confucianism,Buddhism, Taoism from academic thoughts into each other, and comformed the role of Buddhist thought in balancing personal psychology and social relations, but his socialthought was still taking the Confucian morality thought as the main principle, moralitybased and taking the ceremony for education. Moreover, his attitude to the focus ofpeople's livelihood was always running through to his social thought. Su Shi's socialthought had more realty than other scholars, because of a thought annexedConfucianism and Buddhism. So the ideal social model he had proposed provided thescholars a greater choice, which not only fulfilled their trust when they entered politicswith aspiring the saint's way of making the country better. But also could aspireself-worth when setbacks crashed, in order to achieve the balance of the mental. Thisideal social model, was beneficial to adjust the scholars' internal state of differentbackground, also to the whole society self adjusting, reached the purpose of stablesocial order. All in all, Su Shi's social thought for payed more attention to thecharacteristics of the reality, not only had an important meaning to the northern songdynasty the reconstruction of the social order and social reform, also provided thebeneficial reference and historical experience to constructing the harmonious society forcontemporary.
