Influence Of Normal Starting And The Psychology Cost On Prosocial Behavior

Prosocial behavior is a kind of positive social behavior with being volunteer to help others getting interests. Prosocial behavior is a noble conduct which is society encouraged. Exploring the prosocial behavior and its influence factors further will offer positive significance in the academic researching and the progress of social civilization.This thesis takes college students as participants, and including two studies, which with two experiments respectively. The first study explores the influence of moral starting and help cost on prosocial behavior intention. The entire study is designed in the form of2x2mixed experimental design, with moral affective priming direction as sample variables and helping behavior psychological cost as subject variable. The study takes prosocial behavior intention level as the dependent variable. Experiment one is a supra-threshold moral starting and uses story reading start-up mode. Experiment two is a sub-threshold moral starting and uses E-prime program to display moral words rapidly. The second study focus on prosocial behavior from the prosocial behavior attention, which is designed as2x2between subjects design. This part has the same independent variables as the first study. Experiment three is supra-threshold moral starting, and experiment four is sub-threshold moral starting.The results reveal that both supra-threshold and sub-threshold moral starting in the first study show significant main effects in moral starting and psychological cost, but no significant interaction between them. The second study reveals the same main effects in both supra-threshold and sub-threshold and opposite results to the first. The interaction between moral starting and psychology cost is significant in prosocial behavior. Research results are consistent with the experimental hypothesis finally and the differences in interaction effect between two studies caused by the ways of measuring the prosocial behaviors.In conclusion, this thesis distinguishes the different effects and reveals the connection between prosocial behavior attention and prosocial behavior through two studies. As the most important, this thesis shows the effects of moral starting and psychological cost on prosocial behavior, provides certain theory basis for promoting prosocial behavior, and is conducive to the progress of social civilization.
