This article starts from naturalistic thought containing in Chinese traditional culture. According to chronological order, it shows naturalistic design style from British Arts and Crafts Movement period, New Arts Movement period, Modern Arts Design period to Postmodern Arts Design period. This article discusses the historical process of naturalistic design style, involving main characters, decoration materials and the main design ideas and representative works of representatives and so on. It is not by chance for naturalistic design style to become famous again, because it satisfies people's emotional needs to be close to nature and thus has emotional value. In the third chapter, the article begains from the emotional value of naturalistic packaging design, and analyzes its orgin from four aspects -----philosophy, culture, natural emotion and social core values. Then it analyzes the external emotion of naturalistic packaging design from four aspects------graphic emotion, modelling emotion, colour emotion and material emotion and internal emotion-----culture emotion. On the basis of theoretical analysis, the fourth chapter shows naturalism in contemporary packaging design, discusses what it reflects in modern packaging design and emplores application in packaging design from four aspects----graphic, colour, modelling and packaging materials. There is no doubt that it has significant realistic meaning.
