| Ye Xianggao is an important political figure of the Late Ming dynasty, who has experienced Wanli, Guang Zong and Tianqi periods. In Wanli period, Ye Xiangao managed the cabinet alone for seven years;In Tianqi period, he served as Shoufu for four years. During his years in the inner cabinet, various crisis together led the Ming dynasty move towards break. The political situation of Ye Xianggao when he was in the cabinet reflects the common political dilemmas of the scholar-officials of that time.This paper attempts to explore the political dilemmas of Ye Xianggao from the perspective of politics and culture. The introduction of this paper mainly introduces the life of Ye Xianggao, the research about him, literatures and the basic framework of this paper. Chapterâ… mainly outlines the political situation of the Late Ming dynasty when Ye Xianggao in the inner cabinet. Chapterâ…¡makes a discussion from the following five perspectives: the dilemma of the inner cabinet; the estrangement between the emperor and ministers; the poverty-stricken of the state finance; the chaos of court power operation; and border crisis. By the above five perspectives, this paper tries to state the reason of his political difficulty. Chapterâ…¢is the conclusion, which is divided into four parts: the limitations of the scholar-officials'deeds under the imperial politics; the drawbacks of the Ming administrative central system; the personal limitations of the imminent situation ; the political interpretations of Ye Xianggao-like figures.Ye Xianggao's political dilemmas are not his own, and they were not derived from the time of his entering of the central system. On the contrary, it is the integration of various undissolved crisis of the system in that era. Therefore, we can get a conclusion that Ye Xianggao's political predicament is the role predicament he played as a presidency in Late Ming Dynasty ,which was formed by the system conflicts and the accumulated multi-crisis . |
