Tongcheng school, which is the largest and oldest essay genre in Qing Dynasty. Most researchers study for Tongcheng school's Literary Thought, but very few people discussion of "Wen Qi" relationship. This thesis focuses on development of the theory Tongcheng Wen Qi, comments, creation, and significance.The first part of this thesis focuses on the development of "Wen Qi"Theory of Tongcheng School. Before the discussion of this theory, the thesis gives a brief review of the characteristics and the development of "Wen Qi" Theory in ancient China. "Wen Qi" continues to be focused by essayists in Qing Dynasty. Dai Mingshi first develops "Wen Qi" Theory of Tongcheng School who proposed the combined theory of "Jing", "Qi" and "Shen" firstly.Based on Dai's thesis, Fang Bao proposes the core theory---"Yi Fa" Theory of Tongcheng School. Combining Dai and Fang's theory, Liu Daqui proposes "Shen Qi" Theory and "Yin Sheng Qiu Qi" Theory and "Qi Shi". Yao Nai sums up the previous theory and proposes eight elements of the writing of essays and "Yin Yang Gang Rou"Theory.The second part of this thesis focuses on the comments of "Wen Qi" Theory of Tongcheng School. The formation of literary theory in ancient China is almost relevant with the poetry award. "Wen Qi" Theory of Tongcheng School is also formed in this activity.There are mainly two anthologies in Tongcheng School-Fang's "Anthology of Ancient Chinese Prose" and Yao's "Anthology of Ancient Chinese Diction", which imitate "Shihchi", Eight prose masters of the Tang and Song Dynasty and Gui Youguang in Ming Dynasty.The third part discusses the prose writing of Tongcheng School "ancestral", the works of whom is the expression and explanation of "Wen Qi" Theory. Although the style is different from Fang, Liu and Yao, the soul of works is the same. The positive significance and deficiencies of Tongcheng School "Wen Qi" Theory are discussed in the fourth part, which sums up the ancient "Wen Qi" theory completely. Tongcheng School "Wen Qi" is a systematic theory of inheritance to each other. Tongcheng School also brings the poetry's aesthetic feature into prose theory, focusing on the artistic beauty of prose. This thesis only mentions the deficiencies of Tongcheng School "Wen Qi" Theory on syllables, words and other aspects. To insure the best effect of reconstruction the ancient "Wen Qi", we must pay attention to the details and the framework. The conclusion section put forward at Modern Translation of "Wen Qi" Theory.
