Yin Fan "of Tang " Review Of Anthology

"Yin Fan"is the first anthology combining election and assessment. Compilers Yin Fan's poetic theory is embodied in"Preface"and the theory of sets. Twenty-four poets in Tang dynasty have been selected with the consideration of poets'disposition, achievements and style. He specifically evaluated each poet and selected number of poems. Yin Fan initiated the"Images theory"emphasizing rhythm, character, and spirit, tone and theme. He adopts the standard of variety and selects poems with blossom Tang aesthetic features to meet trends of time. His poetic theory took advantage of Zhong Rong and Liu Xie, emphasizing the integration of poetry, such as"rhythm with strength of spirit"and"words with disposition". He values content of poetry and form of poetry as well. One of his distinguishing contributions is that he constructed a flexible system of poetic theory, which reflects the artistic achievements of the Tang poetry and inclusive multi- aesthetic characteristics."Yin Fan"Selected poets in Tang Dynasty that are famous but underappreciated. Almost all poems are colored by author's own thinking, no exception for Yin Fan. Yin Fan has his own thinking of poetry theory, so the contradiction between poems and theory are inevitable. Gloomy under blossom, contradiction between poetry theory and selected poems are reflection of Yin Fan's emotional preference. Du Fu, the"poet sage", not selected, is due to Du Fu's poetry style is contrary to Yin Fan's selection Standard.
