The preposition is the important part in the system of the Chinese speech.Chinese preposition is in endless development as other parts of chinese speech do.lt reflects different characteristic in different historic periods. "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan"has extremely high value.lt is the important literary material which the people of our time study Chinese at the end of Qing Dynasty.But the study of the prepositions in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan" is a weak part,so the author chose this fiction as the studying object.The article analyzes and researches the prepositions in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan",based on the exhaustive inspection.At the same time,we use the methods of synchronic description and comparison between contemporary Chinese prepositions and the prepositions in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan",of quantitative analysis and of qualitative analysis.Thus it outlines the development appearance of the prepositons in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan".The article includes four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction that mainly narrates the studying result of the prepositions in"Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan",the development of studying in the preposition,the different standpoint and the important literatures in the different parts.In the second chapter,the 115 prepositions in "Er' Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan" are classified into twelve types according to their grammatical significance:the preprositions of place,time,direction,obj ect,credential,manner,pass--ivity,spectrum,disposal,comparison,reason,and purpose."把","将"and"被","吃","叫", "教" are separated from the preposition of object to become the preposition of disposal and passivity.The preposition has different appearance but the same grammatical significance,only a little different usage is as one preposition but some different variants.On the basis of the grammatical significance classification,the chapter describe and analyses the all prepositions in"Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan"from the characteristics of syntactic position,the syntax distribution,preposition object and predicate verbs.At the same time,it also makes a synchronic comparison between the synonyma which can replace each other in the some sense.The third one makes a comparison and analysis between the prepositions in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan"and in contemporary Chinese from preposition replacement difference in grammatical significance and preposition object omitted.The fourth one is a epilogue,which has five conclusions of the article.On basis of descriptions and analysis about the prepositions in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan",we have the following conclusions:1. There are some co-occurrence prepositions and the usage of some prepositions is confused in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan".2. In "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan"the syntactic distribution of preposition phrases can be located before the main verb being adverbial,or after the main verb being complement.This proves that all the distribution and function of the. preposition phrases in"Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan"is as the same as in contemporary Chinese.Before the main verb is the principal distribution,and about 28 preprositions can be located at the beginning of sentences,being sentence-initial adverbial.3. There are a lot of disyllabic prepositions that have postclitics "着" "了".But "至于" is only one disyllabic preposition which have the postclitics "于".And there is not some disyllabic prepositions that have the postclitics "过".These make a difference between the disyllabic prepositions in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan"and in contemporary Chinese.4. There are about 107 prepositions in "Er'Nv Ying Xiong ZHuan"which are used in contemporary Chinese.Many prepositions are developed and changed.And the number of grammatical significance increased or decreased. There is a little difference in habits collocation.
