This dissertation mainly based on the appearance, structure, physical and dynamic, chemical and biological, processing and decorative properties of silk, the design applications and the performance of silk from the material color, texture, fashioning and other aspects are analyzed.The natural color of silk is light and fresh. While the color of silk which is obtained by using biological technology like transgene is much more gorgeous. The color of silk dyed by natural and chemical dyestuff is much more colorful. The implic color of silk is lively and unvarnished. By refining, style coordination, function coordination, weaving or the combination with other materials, the rich artifical feelings of silk are showed. Some are smooth. Others are concavo-convex. Some are thin. Others are thick. Variable effects of silk are put up. We can use natural silk or artifical silk, by special weaving technology and decorative methods, to combine its geometical and organic statistics. Finally, the rich and vivid characters of silk are obtained. On the basis of its density, the compact shell structure and loose netty structure of silk are combined. Meanwhile, a visiual and applied character is expressed. As a conclusion, concerning the design of silk material and its products, by using the combination of its color, texture and performance, silk is a suitalbe material in garments or decoration areas. Its design areas could be fashions, furnitures, home decorations, and so on.Silk has excellent material properties, and can be an ideal design material. Meanwhile, silk has great shapeable charistics in design applications. By using the silk design expression, wonderful design effects and perfect charm can be obtained. This is the theoretical basis for the better and variable use of silk in design application.
