Study On The Chinese Translation Of English Pharmaceutical Instructions From The Perspective Of Skopostheorie

There have been more and more medicines imported into China these years. The translation of the instructions of the imported medicines is of vital importance, for even a tiny mistake may lead to serious results. Nevertheless, there have arisen many problems concerning the translation of the imported medicines in recent years.The difficulties lie in the differences between the two languages and cultures, and the different social systems and legal systems also play important roles which can not be ignored. Also, as a special kind of practical writing, pharmaceutical instructions have their own features in various aspects. Thus they deserve comprehensive and systematic study.This thesis applies the Skopostheorie to the study of the Chinese translation of the English pharmaceutical instructions. The main translational problems are investigated on the basis of the three rules of Skopostheorie and the requirements of state pharmaceutical document concerned. After investigating the pharmaceutical directions, main problems are summarized and certain suggestions are presented to solve the problems concerned. Hopefully it may be helpful for the betterment of the translation and researches concerned.
