The general characteristic of the consumer society is appearing in modern China nowadays. That is, the relation between human and objects now exists in the form of human consuming activities of series of codes. On the one hand during this process, culture industry embezzles the concept of "aura" brought out by Benjamin to produce relations; on the other hand, with the producerly text, the truth of the world has been cleared up and covered up while audience themselves produce new meanings through their unscrambling. This text takes the TV drama of Chinese classical masterpieces as examples to illustrate and study the phenomenon of classical culture's spectacularly reappearance. In the consumer society, classics are being materialized during the reproduction and become only amused and entertaining objects. However, it can't be denied that with televisions' spread and dissemination, more people have access to classical cultures. On this level, culture industry does promote the process of art and culture democracy.This thesis will study and investigate the reproduction of classical culture and the spectacularly reappearance of it, in a theory background of consuming society and spectacular society. The study will be carried out from two aspects: the producers and the consumers. Consequently, on the base of introspection, it will give some properly suggestions.
