The Chronicle Of Fan Zhong

During the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, Chinese society had never undergone dramatic changes than before. The most intensive collision had occurred between Chinese and Western cultures for thousands of years. Western culture had become prevalent, a growing number of traditional intellectuals reconsidered the road to revitalize the ancient country . The intellectuals ,however, because of its properties of the class ,who had always been hovering between old and new culture, and then formed a unique characteristics of Scholar in this era . TongCheng School——the foremost ancient Prose in early qing dynasty, developing for two hundred years, reblossmed after it had been reformed by Tseng Kuo-fan .One of "Tongzhou Three Brother"——Fan Chung, was an important representative of Tongcheng School in Jiangsu Province. Fan Bo zi---his elder brother, had gained a good repution in that time. Although taught by his brother, Fan Chong, because of personality and life development path of his own,had distinctive poetry style different from his brothers, and gained his own accomplishments. However, the nimbus of his brother just covered the light younger brother emited. There are more detailed information on study on BoZi, howere,there are just frangmentary and uncompleted materials on FanChong,still no one simple chronicle.In this paper, I intend to arrange his poetry by age and describe a more comprehensive picture of the development of his life ,which is refered to political changes ,based on the original documents, combined with the information about his contemporaries. So what I do is hope to pave for the further researchers.
