Czech is a small country in the central of Europe. Due to its unique geographical location, it had been a place for which lot of countries fighting. Therefore through history it had been governed by different dictatorial regimes. Under such background, the theme"how the people of Czech survive"has been adopted by authors of Czech in their works. As a Czech writer, there is no exception to Klíma. His creation of works rooted in his own destiny, while his personal destiny is rooted in the fate of nationality. The works of Klíma revealed how a weak yet tough nationality survived through different dictatorial regimes. In an ever-changing politic situation, where an individual even the whole nationality was not able to change his destiny, Czech people dropped into strange circles filled with absurdness. The works of Klíma exemplified the lives of Czech people living in a desperate and preposterous society. The thesis is divided into there segments. The first part analyzes Klíma's"Bragg Spirit"and Kundera's"Terminal Paradox";the second part mainly focuses on analyzing the paradox theme of the Klíma's works in which he presented desperate and preposterous theories, such as familiarity and strangeness, memorization and obliviscence, loyalty and abandonment, right and wrong; The last part describes a world of ultimate paradox, where desperate people took affection as a spiritual sustenance which is the only thing not affected by the regimes. However, love proved to be hopeless, their self-help was still an absurd pursuit.
