'Milarepa Biography 'is a wonderful Tibetan story, which is widely spread and influenced in Tibetan areas. It is a very essential document to study the Tibetan language, history, religion, political, economic and social changes, etc. This book which was written by simple words and vivid descriptions has been translated into French, English, Mongolian, Chinese and many other languages. Every reader may not forget Milarepa's experiences, belief and pursuit. In this paper, we compare three editions of Chinese translation of 'Milarepa Biography', taking 'faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance' as the standards, to try to find out the same and the different, the advantages and the disadvantages among the three. Our main aim is to summarize useful methods of Chinese-Tibetan translation.There are five chapters in this paper. In Chapter 1, there is an introduction to this paper. The purpose and significance of the topic selection and the status-quo of research will be discussed in this chapter. In Chapter 2, we will briefly talk about questions just like background, content, editions of translation of 'Milarepa Biography', etc. Also will we talk about the importance of the study of translation from a intercultural view. In Chapter 3, we mainly compare three editions of Chinese translation from such as catalogues, names, verses, mgur-glus, and even the translators' identifications. Then we try to summarize our own views on Chinese-Tibetan translation. In Chapter 4, the theories of translation criticism and retranslation will be discussed. A total conclusion will be appeared in Chapter 5. We try to find out the same and the different, the advantages and the disadvantages among the three and then prepare for the next retranslating.
