'Noda'plays a significant role in Japanese sentence ending expressions. It is used in a large scale, with abundance and complicity in usage, which is particularly adopted as'noda' or'noda' in colloquial Japanese and as'noda' or 'noda' in written Japanese. Therefore, quite a few Japanese researchers are engaged in the study of'noda', and fortunately, they have accomplished great achievements. This paper, based on the previous researches, aims at the significance and usages of 'noda' from the perspectives of'scope'and'mood', and focuses on the expression of 'noda' used in sentence endings.ChapterⅠputs forward the research purpose of this paper, reviews the major researches of related previous studies, and lists the structure for this paper.ChapterⅡaddresses to 'noda' both in'scope'and "mood" of declarative sentences. This chapter first studies the function and characters of'noda'in'scope', sorting the cases in which sentences can do without 'noda' in'scope'. And then this chapter moves on to the characters of 'noda' in'mood'.ChapterⅢ, based on the theory of Noda, classifies question and negation as 'noda' in 'scope'. The former part of this chapter studies the way'noda'is used and its function in negative sentences; and the latter part mainly discusses the usages of 'noda' in questions which cover three types, namely, Yes-No questions, Alternative questions, and WH-questions.Chapter IV divides the usages of' noda' in 'mood' into two groups; that is 'noda' and 'noda'. And the former is used in most cases, which implies the one of the most important functions of'noda'.Chapter V studies the cases in which 'noda' can not be used in that it is easy to give rise to the misuse, since the adoption of 'noda' always seems to emphasize.Chapter VI works as the conclusion part.
