This study focuses on the problems of heavy teaching task, low interests and efficiency of study, the improvement of traditional teaching mode that exists in college English teaching process. It takes the independent college as the research object, explores a mode-cycled teaching. By employing the research method of interviews, questionnaire, statistic analysis, this study investigates the feedback of the students and teachers who are involved in the cycled teaching, analyzes the statistic of CET4(College English Test Band 4), and explores the feasibility of spreading the cycled teaching mode in the college English teaching for the non-English major in independent college.This study takes the method of questionnaire among the undergraduate students in the 36 classes in Grade 2007 and 18 teachers who are involved in the cycled teaching. It aims to know their approval rating and their suggestions of the improvement of traditional teaching mode; meanwhile it adopts the interviews among the students, teachers, students and teachers to know their suggestions of improvement of cycled teaching mode; besides it compares the statistics of CET4 of the students in Grade 2007 and the previous students in order to prove the effect of cycled teaching.Base on the questionnaire, interviews and statistic analysis, this study shows:1) the students and teachers in the independent college propose objection against traditional teaching mode and desire to adopt new teaching mode.2) most students and teachers take the positive attitude towards the new teaching mode-cycled teaching.3) through analyzing the statistics, it shows that the students who are involved in the cycled teaching have made great improvement to some extent.4) cycled teaching has many problems and defects, such as, unstable teaching team, high demanded synchronization and so on.Focus on the present problems that exists in the independent college, the author proposes the following suggestions:1) the traditional teaching mode of teacher-center and teach language knowledge and skills purely should be changed into students-center and paying more attention to the cultivation of language skills and autonomous learning ability. 2) the cycled teaching mode has great help to the improvement of students'study efficiency and alleviation of teachers'heavy teaching task. 3) cycled teaching mode has requirements of the teacher resources, hardware, and software. At present the independent college where the author in can not reach the standard and spread the new cycled teaching mode in the whole college.The study makes an inquiry into the empirical studies of new teaching mode-cycled teaching. It is hoped that this study may shed some light on English teaching and relative researches.
