Culture is closely related to language. The culture of a nation is always reflected and embodied by the language of the nation. It is difficult to master a foreign language without learning its culture; therefore, culture teaching is vital to foreign language teaching. The theory of the intercultural approach to foreign language teaching is the outcome of the integration of foreign language teaching and culture teaching. It meets the needs of developing learners'intercultural communication competence.So far, Research has been done to study the objective, the content and the method of culture teaching to improve students'ICC competence. However,research is mostly concerned with English majors in universities and seldom with business English majors in vocational colleges.The implementation approach to culture teaching is divided into three categories, i.e. the traditional knowledge transmission approach, process-focused approach and the brand new intercultural communication approach. The goal of the intercultural approach to foreign language teaching is aimed at developing learners'ICC competence as well as improving their foreign language ability. It contains the concrete target knowledge, target ability and target attitude. Based on the above research, the author explored the objective and several methods of culture teaching in business English education in vocational colleges by summarizing her own experience in teaching the book Century Business English Reading Course.Theoretically, the research contributes to the application of the theory of intercultural approach to foreign language teaching. It is also of some value to business English curriculum reform in vocational colleges. In teaching practice, it can be a good reference for English teachers in vocational colleges to implement culture teaching in business English courses. However, the the form and content of culture teaching in business English courses still needs improving.Under the framework of the intercultural approach to foreign language teaching, the thesis makes an analysis and research on the application and implementation of culture teaching in business English education in vocational colleges. The thesis first has a study of the concept of culture and language and the relationship of culture and language teaching. Then the theory of intercultural approach to foreign language teaching is introduced. The necessity and urgency of culture teaching in business English education in vocational colleges is also pointed out in the first chapter. The second chapter deals with the theory and research findings of the intercultural approach to foreign language teaching at home and abroad. In the third chapter, the specific objectives of culture teaching in business English education in vocational colleges are established. In the fourth Chapter, the implementation method of culture teaching in business English education in vocational colleges is concluded. The last chapter concludes the whole thesis and addresses its limitations and suggestions for the further study.
