| In alphabetical writing system such as Uighur, which have word boundaries,written Chinese text word boundaries are not marked. It's always reported that Uygur students who begin to learn Chinese have difficulties in identifying words. This study used space and added gray method as the word segmentation marker, using Eyelink 2000 monitored Uygur students'and Han students'eye movement situation and its processing mechanism under the way of Chinese word segmentation.In Experiment 1,2 used 45 Uygur students and Han students as tries. This experiment adopted different nation and presentation condition 3×4 ANOVAs. This experiment explored the influence of word segmentation on Uygur students and Han students eye movement under the way of space and added gray method.In Experiment 3 used 40 Uygur students and Han students as tries. This experiment adopted different working memory capacity, different nation and presentation condition 2×2×4ANOVAs. This experiment explored the influence of word segmentation on Uygur students'and Han students'eye movement under the way of different working memory capacity.The results showed as follows:Firstly, under the way of space and added gray method, average saccade amplitude of Han Chinese students significantly greater than that of Uygur junior students' and Uygur senior students'. Fixation count, duration and saccade count of Han Chinese students significantly less than that of Uygur junior students' and Uygur senior students'. Under normal unspaced, word spaced and nonword spaced, average fixation duration of Han Chinese students significantly less than that of Uygur junior students'. Under single Chinese character spaced, there were no significant nation differences. Under normal Chinese text and text with gray used to mark words, average fixation duration of tries significantly less than that of text with gray to mark each character.Secondly, average fixation duration of high working memory capacity tries significantly less than that of low working memory capacity tries under four added gray presentation conditions. There were significant difference between nations. Under different working memory capacity, fixation count, duration and saccade count of Han Chinese students significantly less than that of Uygur students'. Average saccade amplitude just the opposite.The conclusion showed as follows:Firstly, under the way of space ,add gray and different working memory capacity in add gray way Han students' and Uygur students' exist differences.Secondly, the denser the text, the shorter the saccades and the longer the fixations.Thirdly,under the word spacing condition and text with gray used to mark words produced stimulative effect in a certain degree of Chinese reading.Finally, high working memory capacity readers were shorter than low working memory capacity readers in average fixation duration, average saccade amplitude and duration time under the way of add gray. |
