Language, as our most important tool for thought, exchanging ideas, and social communication, is human culture's highest form. Uyghur is an ancient language, and a beautiful one as well. It possesses the ability to express and explain the most specific and complicated ideas. From time immemorial, the Uyghur people have used this language to express their most intricate feelings in speech and writing. The ability to express thoughts with beauty and taste via all sorts of metaphor is an indication of the language's high level of development. From earliest times, the Uyghur people have placed great importance on linguistic beauty. Whether in their seventh-century Orkhon stelae, in Mahmud al-Kashgari's Dictionary of the Turkic Languages, or in Yusup Khas Hajib's long poem Qutadghu Bilig, they have valued the use of metaphors to express ideas with beauty and power. This custom has always obtained among Uyghur poets and writers. In all eras, talented writers have emerged to inherit and pass on Uyghurs' tradition of reverence for linguistic beauty. The custom was passed on in such works as Nawa'is Khamsa, Nézawri's love poems. From this we can see that the Uyghur language is a rich and beautiful one; the particularities of Uyghurs' language use are therefore well deserving of research.
