The dissertation focuses on Chinese-English equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes, which appear in some elementary materials of teaching Chinese as a second language. This article takes "Chinese Course"(2000) as the object of study, through qualitative and quantitative research methods to count the number of equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes and analyze the causes of it in those six books. At the same time, I try to give some suggestions on how to improve this special phenomenon.The dissertation can be divided four parts, the first part is foreword part. it mainly introduces the reason of choosing this topic, the object of study, the research methods and analysis of the current academic research, leads to the topic of this paper—equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes.The second part focuses on investigation and analysis of equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes. I manage to get the statistics of equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes in the word lists of "Chinese Course", and some of them are displayed typically by the forms. At last, I analyze equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes from the points of the same semantics, different semantics and similar semantics.In the third part, I mainly talk about errors on using of equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes which are made by the Chinese learners. These errors are displayed by different examples which are in the form of nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, and so on. These errors have also been analyzed by the objective reasons and subjective reasons.The fourth part on how to improve equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes, discussed respectively from the classroom teaching skills and compiling strategies of teaching materials. From one aspect of classroom teaching skills, I suggest that teachers can attach importance to vocabulary teaching methods, use multimedia as the modern teaching methods, while improving their own quality of teachers. From the other aspect of compiling strategies of teaching materials, I hope to avoid man-made causes of equivalent translation of the words with different morphemes, to improve the quality of translation interpretation with appropriate layout space.Finally, summarizing the remarks as a conclusion, pointed out the problems and inadequacies of the study.
