Edward Morgan Forster is a highly prestigious british writer and critic, at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, whether social historical progress or Literature development were both at a transition period. Foster realized invariable copy traditional can not adapt to the need of real spiritual and cultural life, has become the obstacle to the development of modern civilization. So he dauntlessly vented his discontent and criticized Victorian values in his novel. He dared to expose the oppression of heterosexual of mainstream society to homosexuality and uncover the flesh and spirit hurt; and he disclosed the human depressive of religions, suspected religious salvation function. He disdained to the decorous gentleman of the early 20th century and depicted the mediocre, hypocrisy, conservative of the gentleman.However, it is evidently single-faceted that just say Forster anti-traditional. On one hand, Foster doubt tradition.On the other hand, he tried to draw upon and inherit the essence of traditional, and changed ways of understanding to "traditional". I want to Analyze that how Forster treat the progressive tradition, rebelling, discarding or recycling, and I also try to find the underlying reason. At last, I will analyze the inclusive artistic creative methods of Forster.
