The works of Li Yuanji, the eminent Korean writer, always attract readers' attention and gain great population with his unique literary style.Stylistics is a literary term which discusses how to convey and strergthen the theme and aesthetic effect of the work through words. Based on the analysis of the literary words in The Ordinary People's Wish—his first collection of stories, the author of this paper tries to study Li Yuanji's creative and personalized language system; furthermore, to explore Li Yuanji's personality hidden underneath the literary words of the fiction; finally, to conclude the stylistic characteristics of Li Yuanji's novels in his early creative period.This paper consists of five parts.The first chapter:an introduction part. This part aims at the research objectives and the research approaches of this paper, as well as the overview of literature reviews and the significance of the early stage research on_i's works.The second chapter:on the basis of the review of various definition of style, the author tries to summary the general stylistic impression of Li Yuanji's novel.The third chapter:a detailed and concrete analysis of the work. The phonological features of the novel are obtained through the generalization of the onomatopoetic and mimetic words. Vocabulary features of the collection are summarized through the study of the part of speech, Chinese words, native Korean words, loan words, hybrid words, color words and dialect in the work.The fourth chapter:a further analysis of the rhetoric devices. The characteristics of the collection are manifested through the generalization of the length and the classification of the stories. The performance characteristics of the collection are acquired through the study of the figure of speech, such as:metaphor, personification, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia mimicry.According to the analysis of the third and fourth chapter of this paper, the stylistic characteristics of Li Yuanji's novel are summarized.The fifth chapter:the conclusion part of this paper. Through the specific analysis and study of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, a natural conclusion about the stylistic characteristics of Li Yuanji's works can be drawn.The study of Li Yuanji's literary words in the collection is intended to make him achieve fair judgment in the Korean literature history, and offer guidance to the appreciation of Li Yuanji's works for the readers. Therefore, from a stylistic point of view, an exploratory glimpse of the literary and artistic charm of Li Yuji's works is made, attempting at making his works receive a fair judgment in the Korean literature history as well as to provide a basic reference for a better understanding and appreciation of Li Yuanji's literature.
