The Research Of Potential Verb-Complement Vocabulary

Under the guidance of the three-dimension grammatical theory, by taking potential verb-complement vocabulary in Modern Chinese Dictionary (5th Edition) as the research project, and through contrast and comparison of these same word-formation vocabulary from three aspects of syntactic feature, semantic feature and pragmatic function, this paper draw a conclusion that the same word formation vocabularies have many common points as well as some individuality in the aspects of syntax, semantic feature and pragmatic function.The paper includes six chapters: Introduction, Three Chapters of Main Body, Current Research and Conclusion.The first Chapter of Introduction is mainly concerned with the clarification of the purpose and significance of research of potential verb-complement vocabulary, introduction of theoretical framework and research scope applied, and explanation of the source of corpus and symbols in this paper.Chapter two gives a brief retrospection and comments on both previous and current research of Modern Chinese possible complements.Chapter three does the research of the potential verb-complement vocabulary from the syntactic feature aspect, mainly focusing on the vocabulary's functions as syntactic component, of taking adverbial and object as well as the contrastive usage of patterns.Chapter four does the same research from the semantic aspect, mainly inspects the semantic feature, semantic orientation and restrictive condition of entering patterns of the potential verb-complement vocabulary.The fifth Chapter mainly inspects the potential verb-complement vocabulary from pragmatic function aspect, including their pattern focus and the law of choosing sentence patterns.The last Chapter of Conclusion indicates the summarization of the points of the main body as well as the problems remain to be solved in this paper.
