In the mass-media age, people have more options in both material and culture. They feel void, lost and confused rather than free and enriched. The intellectual crisis shows the significance of aesthetic education. Rebuilding spiritual home is the sacred task of aesthetic education, while that combining features of the times. Along this clue, this paper conducts theoretical investigation.There are four chapters in this paper:Chapter one describes the current situation of aesthetic education and makes some analysis. Due to the excessive dependence to mediums in the mass-media age, people present the character of loneliness and convergence. Driven by commercial profit, media promotes consumption and recreation, characterized by utilitarian, marginalization as well as fast consumption. The educatees are lost in information hunger and information anxiety, seeking for more information from pictures and bodily enjoyment which has covered the spiritual needs. Chapter Two refers to the analysis of the features of aesthetic education in mass-media age, which has higher requirement and larger scope. The object of aesthetic education is also ambiguous and uncertain. They fall into deep loneliness because of isolating themselves with history connection, as well as deconstructing tradition for publicizing individuality. Because of the development of media and information, the form of aesthetic education is transforming from elite education to public education, from school education to lifetime education, from others education to the combination of others education and self education. The method and access of aesthetic education is becoming various. In a time when aesthetic element is full in people's daily life, it is necessary for us to explain the necessity and significance of aesthetic education, in order to establish a noble aesthetic ideal. Chapter Four refers to the images and contents of aesthetic mechanism to optimize public media, to break down the virtuality of image aestheticism with present aestheticism, to resist information dissimilation, as well as to reconstruct sublimity and significance.
