Stories from a Ming Collection created many different characters and images, involving all walks of life. Taking the lead of literature, special description about external behaviors as well as inner feelings of merchants and females are given in the works of art, in which one-third of them is on women's self-consciousness about love and 50 articles are expressions of merchant spirit. Instead of being decorations like other traditional works, a bunch of vivid and sensitive characters were created. The esthetics characteristic embodied by those stylish and ground-breaking secular literature figures is extremely worthy of researching. The author took the two groups of people as the core so as to expore and analyze their connotative esthetic value. The whole essay is consisted of the following parts.The introduction part stated relevant researching situations, researching methods and its significance.Chapter One stated the esthetic value orientation that the works of art had showed to pursue wealth and to indulge desire under the social impact in late Ming Dynasty.Chapter Two focused on female images, unscrambled their sexsual attractiveness, boldness, liberty, independent personality and other sense of progress, so as to analyze their purpose of pursuing love---for the happiness of marriage.Chapter Three is the analysis of merchants'esthetic pursuit. It contains not only the author's idea of merchant humaity, character and personality, but also the recognition of business spirit and self-worth.The conclusion part figured out the inherent limitations of Stories from a Ming Collection.
